We started managing Bryn Woodlands House, our family run bed and breakfast in Colwyn Bay, in 2015, and it was the best decision we ever made. Here's a little bit about our backgrounds, and why we have come to love our job so much.
A Lancastrian through and through, I first discovered my love for catering and hospitality at the age of 14, when I was lucky enough to work in the kitchens of Abbeystead country estate, belonging to the Duke of Westminster.
This experience led me to the decision to study catering at college. Following this, I worked in some of the most beautiful hotels in the UK, including Down Hall, Eastwell Manor, Montague Arms and Rhinefield House. I concluded this stint in the hospitality industry at the Edgwarebury Hotel, where I met my lovely wife, Tracey.
I took a break from the hospitality trade for a while when an opportunity arose to work for an aerospace company in Hong Kong and China, which was an amazing adventure.
Upon my return, I was employed for eight years as a centre manager for a global company, where I honed my managerial and organisational skills.
My passion for the hospitality trade never left me, and in 2015 I was delighted when myself and my wife made the decision to move with our daughter to run a guest house in Colwyn Bay, Bryn Woodlands House.
This is the best thing we have ever done as a family. We enjoy running our bed and breakfast immensely, and look forward to welcoming you.
A proud Yorkshire lass, I studied at Huddersfield Technical College and discovered my love for hospitality whilst working as a barmaid at The Frontier Night Club in Batley.
My catering and hospitality career blossomed from there, from the Tong Village Hotel near Bradford as a bar and restaurant person, to receptionist and conference coordinator at Elstree Moat House, and finally Edgewarebury Hotel where I met my husband, Joel.
Following the birth of our daughter, I had several career changes. I ultimately found that I was completely unsuited to office life, and my heart lay in the hospitality industry.
In 2015 the chance came along to run our own bed and breakfast in Colwyn Bay. We took a leap of faith, and we have never looked back. We are truly passionate about what we do, and we hope you will enjoy staying with us
