I am a Lancastrian through and through, I have been in and out of the hospitality trade since the age of 13, I was lucky enough at the age of 14 to work in the Kitchens of the Duke of Westminster at his country estate at Abbeystead in the Trough of Bowland, Upon leaving school I went to college to study catering, from there out into the wide world, working in some of the best and most beautiful Country House Hotels in the UK such as Down Hall, Eastwell Manor, Montague Arms, Rhinefield House and The Edgwarebury Hotel where I met Tracey My wife, after taking a break from the hospitality trade I was lucky enough to work for an aerospace company in Hong Kong and China which was an amazing adventure and a tick on my bucket list. Upon my return I then worked for a Global company called Regus as a Centre Manager for 8 years in and around London. But something was missing and my passion for the hospitality trade came back and in 2015 myself my wife and our daughter moved to Colwyn Bay and started running Bryn Woodlands House. I can assure you this is the best thing we as a family have ever done and should have done it years ago.
Have a look at what’s on offer in and around Bryn Woodlands House, our door is always open, we look forward to welcoming you into our home. See you soon!
After leaving school I studied at Huddersfield Technical College and did what most students do found myself going into bar work.
I joined the team at The Frontier Night Club (Formerly Batley Variety Club) and my hospitality career grew from there, working at Tong Village Hotel near Bradford as Bar Person, Restaurant/Function Bar taking me on to Receptionist and Conference Co-Ordinator at Elstree Moat House and Edgwarebury Hotels in Borehamwood North London.
I’ve had many career changes since then and some would say “Jack of all trades master of none”.
Office life never suited, although it has built my experience, knowledge and opportunities to travel, so when the opportunity showed itself to run our own business it was time to GRAB it.
In 2015 “#TeamToulmin” took a leap of faith and have never looked back.
Oh, and you’ve probably gathered there is a war of roses going on here!!! At the time of writing I think I’m winning……
